Cat sitting at computer with bowl of icecream cherry picking information as an example of confirmation bias

Confirmation Bias: Selective Science with Duchess!

Duchess is sitting at the computer with a bowl of ice cream next to her, scrolling through article after article. First up? "YOUR BODY ON ICE CREAM" with a picture of a very fat cat. Duchess just keeps on scrolling.

The next article warns about diabetes. Blank stare. scroll

Cancer risks? Another blank stare. scroll

"NEW STUDIES SUGGEST ICE CREAM MIGHT BE HEALTHY?" FINALLY! Duchess's ears perk up like she's discovered the meaning of life. With the smuggest smile ever, she hugs her bowl of ice cream closer. "Just as I suspected..." she grins, completely ignoring anything she's just read.

This comic perfectly shows how confirmation bias works - we tend to grab onto information that supports what we want to believe while ignoring everything else. Duchess shows us that whether you're a cat or a human, it's super easy to fall into this trap!

We've all been Duchess at some point, finding that ONE article that supports what we want to do anyway. Sometimes ignorance really is bliss... especially when ice cream is involved! 🍦😼
