Duchess and the Cupcake Conundrum

Duchess was having a lazy day one Sunday, enjoying a sizable bowl of cupcakes and other baked goodies and channel surfing.

“BREAKING NEWS! NEW STUDY LINKS CUPCAKES TO CANCER!!” Chimed the local news station.

Duchess stopped mid-bite. No way that was true! Her favourite snack would never betray her like that, would it? The news spoke otherwise.

“Nothing is safe anymore,” She thought to herself, “Maybe I should go on a diet…”
She thought more about other parts of her life that could probably do with a change.“And start exercising,” She continued, “And fix my attitude, Bruno would be happy about that.. And clean the house… and stop enjoying anything…”

As Duchess considered the changes to her life she should make she could feel dread come over her. “Never mind all that,” She said as she took another bite of her cupcake. “At least I’ll be fat and happy! Now, what else is on TV?”

This story is funny because it shows us that sometimes, we might know what's good for us, but choosing to be happy (in the moment) can be even better. It's like when you're told to go to bed early, but you'd rather stay up and play a game. It teaches us about balancing what we should do with what we want to do.
