Duchess: The Unstoppable Invader of Quiet Time

SCATCH SCRATCH SCRATCH
“Go away, Duchess! I need some alone time!” Bruno shouted toward the door.
“Bruno let me in!”
“NO! You’re being a pest!”
“Brunooooo!!!”
“No!”
Duchess sat behind the closed door, staring at it. She was getting in that room one way or another.
“How dare he lock me out of the room,” she muttered to herself, “why would he need alone time away from me, anyway? I’m the best!” She sat, scratching at the door for another few minutes, to no avail. Bruno wouldn’t budge, simply ignoring her calls and reading his book instead.
“Fine, time to change tactics,” Duchess thought to herself before wandering off.
Bruno was enjoying his few minutes of silence, but before long there was Duchess, pawing at the window, with the sweetest, pleading look on her face.
“I made sure to lock the windows too, Duchess,” he remarked without even looking up, turning to the next page in his book, “You’re not getting in!”
Duchess again tried in vain to annoy him into opening the window for her to be let in, but it was no use. No amount of waving, silly faces or scratching the glass was going to make him budge.
"Fine. This calls for drastic measures,” she stated decidedly. Another few minutes passed before Bruno started hearing the strangest array of sounds. Not only was the door rattling, but he could also hear scratching, what sounded like someone rolling around on the ground and grunts of effort. Bruno looked up from his book to find that Duchess squeezing her way through the gap under the bedroom door.
Duchess took a moment to catch her breath before pronouncing, “Where there’s a will there’s a way Bruno! I’m here to grace you with my presence!”
