When Fake News Goes Nuts!

Boxer and the other neighbourhood dogs were milling about, doing what dogs do when something caught their eye up in the sky.

"SQUIRRELS PREPARING FOR WAR! - Brought to you by Gizmo News"

There, up in the sky, was a hologram of hundreds of squirrels hoarding acorns.

“What do they need the acorns for?” one dog remarked. “Obviously to attack us with!” another replied. “Have you ever had an acorn fall on your head? It hurts!”

“Look at that one squirrel up front! He’s attacking the camera! They mean business!”

“I have to tell the others!” Boxer exclaimed. He sped off down the road to Duchess and Bruno’s house.

“Guys! You’re not gonna believe it! The squirrels are preparing for war! Gizmo has photographic evidence of the squirrels preparing to attack!”

Duchess and Bruno, who had been enjoying their mid-afternoon snack, looked up at him.

“I’ve seen Gizmo’s hit piece,” Duchess remarked, “Don’t the squirrels collect acorns every year?”

Boxer looked at her, slightly shocked but he knew what she meant. “You’re right!” he replied, just as they heard howling in the distance. Duchess, Boxer and Bruno looked out to see all of the dogs in the neighbourhood carrying on, barking and preparing for battle. “There’s no changing their minds now…” Boxer remarked.

This funny comic shows us how easily bad ideas can spread and get people (or in this case, animals) all worked up over nothing. It reminds us to think carefully about the news we hear and not jump to scary conclusions too quickly!
