Duchess Talks Smack

"...all they do is howl and whine and carry on..." Duchess complained about who and what she didn't like to Bruno, who was trying to focus on his car magazine. There wasn't much they could do anyway, stuck in the dull waiting room with several other dogs, one of whom sat completely hidden behind his newspaper.
"...huskies are some of the loudest dogs I've come across. Oh, and don't get me STARTED on Pit Bulls, those vicious creatures!" Bruno gave Duchess a nervous shove, sweat forming on his brow as a low growl emerged from behind the newspaper. The paper slowly lowered, revealing a muscular, angry-looking Pit Bull staring straight at her. The other dogs in the waiting room watched with alarm as Duchess stopped mid-sentence.
The Pit Bull rose to his feet, smoke practically rising from his head as he stood over her, snarling. Duchess sank into her chair while Bruno tried his best not to panic.
"...those... viciously loyal and protective creatures! To a fault!" she stammered.
The Pit Bull let out a huff and stalked away. Duchess put her trembling paw to her chest, taking a deep breath. "I stepped in it that time," she murmured quietly. "He could have taken my head off."
"Ever consider being quiet, Duchess?" Bruno muttered to her, shaking his head.
