"They're traitors because they're guilty. And they're guilty because they're traitors."

Read that again. It sounds like an argument. It feels like an argument. But it proves absolutely nothing. The conclusion is just the starting point wearing a different hat. No evidence. No logic. Just a loop - and 40,000 people died because of it.

That's Circular Reasoning. And your learners use it more than they realise: "This restaurant must be amazing - look at that line!" "Why's the line so long?" "It must be popular!" Plot twist: there's one bloke frying and the register's been down since lunchtime.

This 20-page pack teaches them to spot when an argument is going nowhere - just round and round in circles. Through an illustrated true story, an original comic, and hands-on activities, they don't memorise a definition. They learn to catch it in the wild.

⭐ RATED 5.0 ON ETSY AND TPT

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "My kids absolutely adore the characters and story. It reminds us of Horrible Histories. I haven't found anything like this pack before - perfect for extension work and discussion." - Sandra

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Way more fun than I expected. I wanted something that would teach critical thinking but I didn't think you could make that fun. My kids love it and now they're asking for more." - Kylie

THE STORY INSIDE

Every pack opens with a true story from history - not a paragraph in a textbook, but a fully illustrated, multi-page narrative.

This pack features the story of Maximilien Robespierre and the Reign of Terror during the French Revolution. In 1793, Robespierre and his revolutionaries dreamed of freedom, equality, and fraternity. Anyone who disagreed with their vision? Branded a traitor. Their reasoning? "They're traitors because they're guilty! And they're guilty because they're traitors!"

No evidence. Just deceptive logic going round in circles. Louis Saint-Just added to the chaos: "They're evil because they oppose us, and they oppose us because they're evil!"

No need for facts - just suspicion - and suddenly heads started rolling. 16,000 of them, including Queen Marie Antoinette's. Anyone could be labelled an "enemy" without a shred of proof. Families were torn apart. Children became orphans. Blood filled the streets. By the end of the terror, about 40,000 people had died.

And in the ultimate twist? Robespierre fell into his own trap and became the traitor he had once condemned.

The pack ends with a line your learners won't forget: "Ask for proof before you start sharpening the guillotine."

WHAT'S INSIDE

📖 Illustrated Historical Story - The true story of Robespierre's Reign of Terror and how circular logic was used to condemn thousands without evidence, told through vivid illustrations across multiple pages.

🎨 Original Comic - Duchess and Bruno hit Circular Reasoning in a scenario your learners will recognise instantly. Followed by a "Break It Down" page that connects the joke to the concept.

🔍 Real-Life Examples - Spot the fallacy in advertising, social media, news and politics. Drawn from what they actually encounter, not hypotheticals.

📝 Circular Reasoning Breakdown - Clear definition, worked examples, and activities that build to mastery.

✏️ Interactive Activities - Code Breaker puzzle, Match the Fallacy, The Great Word Hunt, and a Draw Your Own Comic page.

🐾 Hidden Gizmo Hunt - A sneaky character hidden somewhere in the pack. Small detail, disproportionate engagement.

📋 Answer Sheet - For teachers, parents and group leaders. No prep required.

WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT

Most fallacy resources are a definition on a slide and a matching worksheet. This one teaches through storytelling.

Your learners don't just find out what Circular Reasoning is. They watch a logic loop fill the streets with blood, laugh at it in a comic, then go hunting for it in the wild. That sequence is why it sticks.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

Teachers wanting a critical thinking activity that actually engages middle schoolers, not just occupies them

Homeschooling families who want structured, curriculum-aligned content that doesn't feel like a chore

Parents who'd rather their kids interrogate a claim than swallow it

Debate coaches and gifted programs looking for supplementary material with real depth

Designed for ages 10+. Used successfully in middle school, high school, homeschool and family settings - and plenty of adults have quietly worked through it themselves.
