"Do 10 push-ups and I'll be impressed." You crush it. "Okay, but can you do 20?"

Dude. Come on.

Someone sets a goal, you hit it, and they act like that was just the warm-up. The target keeps moving. No matter what you achieve, it's never enough. The finish line is always just a little further away.

That's Moving the Goalpost. Your learners deal with it all the time - in friendships, at school, online. "Get an A and I'll be happy." They get an A. "Well, it wasn't an A+." "Actually, you're not done yet!" "Nope, that didn't count." The rules keep changing, and winning becomes impossible.

This 20-page printed activity pack teaches kids to recognise when someone keeps shifting the criteria so they can never succeed. Through an illustrated true story, a funny comic, and hands-on activities featuring Duchess and Bruno, learners don't just memorise a definition. They understand the fallacy well enough to catch it in the wild.

THE STORY INSIDE

Every pack starts with a true story from history - not a paragraph in a textbook, but a fully illustrated, multi-page narrative.

This pack features the story of Joseph Stalin and his Five Year Plan. Stalin - nicknamed the "Man of Steel" - was the leader of the Soviet Union from 1924 to 1953. In the 1930s, he announced his grand plan to the Soviet people: "Dig for 35 million tonnes of coal and we'll all be living large."

Coal miner Alexei Stakhanov and his crew went all in. They dug like maniacs, mining tirelessly 7 days a week for 5 years, eventually reaching their goal of 35 million tonnes. Then they had a victory party, right?

Nope. Stalin strolled in and said, "Actually... let's make it 70 million! That was the real goal all along." The goalpost just skyrocketed into space. Soon it was 75 million tonnes. Then 95 million tonnes. Then 152 million tonnes.

By the 1940s, everyone realised the Five Year Plan was more like the Forever Plan. The promise of extra food and cosy homes never came. Instead, millions starved to death and all the government said was "WORK HARDER!" Between 1932 and 1933, 4–5 million people died during the Holodomor - the "Big Hunger." Alexei whispered to his pals: "We hit the mark, but we couldn't win." That's moving the goalpost in action - the sneakiest way to keep you chasing without ever admitting they're wrong.

WHAT'S INSIDE

📖 Illustrated Historical Story - The true story of Stalin's Five Year Plan, Alexei Stakhanov, and how constantly shifting targets starved millions, told through vivid illustrations across multiple pages.

🎨 Original Comic - Duchess and Bruno navigate Moving the Goalpost in a funny, relatable scenario. Followed by a "Break It Down" analysis section that connects the humour to the concept.

🔍 Real-Life Examples - Spot the fallacy in advertising, social media, news, and politics. Drawn from situations your learners actually encounter.

📝 Moving the Goalpost Breakdown - Clear definition, worked examples, and activities to build mastery.

✏️ Interactive Activities - Code Breaker puzzle, Match the Fallacy challenge, The Great Word Hunt, and a Draw Your Own Comic page where learners create their own fallacy scenario.

🐾 Hidden Gizmo Hunt - A sneaky character hidden in the pack that kids love finding. Small detail, big engagement.

📋 Answer Sheet - For teachers, parents, and group leaders. No extra prep needed.

WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT

Most fallacy resources are a definition on a slide and a matching worksheet. This pack teaches through storytelling. Kids don't just learn what the Moving the Goalpost is - they see it destroy lives in a true historical story, laugh at it in a comic, and then hunt for it in real-world examples. That's how you make a concept stick.
